Summer is here at last

Spring eventually gave way to summer. We endured cold and wet days which lengthened until they started getting less long. Midsummer had passed and there was really no improvement. Another year like last year, we thought. But at last we are bathing in glorious sunshine and hot temperatures. Mum has taken off her three fleeces and Dad has parted with his loyal hat. They look strange - like they've lost a lot of weight.
The chicks were late hatching - some still are popping out here and there - but we are very pleased to report that we have some lovely Golds and a few very pretty Silvers to carry on our bloodline.

We had visitors stop by from time to time - like the rather scary lone raptor who circled overhead and stared down at us. And the Goose Family who came for lunch one day. Sammy Squirrel annoyed Strawberry the Cat back at Wattlebury Cottage by swinging acrobatically on the bird feeder. But here we are in the middle of July and after a very slow start the crops have grown tall and we can hear the grass being mown for hay in the neighbouring field.
